The ruins of Gruyden

After the defeat suffered at Breder the defenders of the Empire are back on the defence, marching south to the devastated town of Gruyden to face off a skaven horde

The crazed slayers of Karak Kadrin rush towards their foe

A teeming mass of monstruous ratmen on the far side of the field!

In two turns the dwarves close with the enemy

Suffering the first loss when a doomseker is run down by the rat ogres

On the other side of the battlefield meanwhile a swamp keeps both enemies at bay

While in the center advance Long Drong's slayers

Ratlings and jezzails open fire, but nothing scares the frenzied slayers

Who smash into the rat ogres and rout them from the field

In the center the slayers anihilate a block of slaves pursuing towards the jezzails

While one of the skaven contraption opens fire on their own!

Plage monks and pirates clash in a breif but bloody combat that sees the plague ridden rats exterminated

While a lone doomseeker charges into a block of clanrats

The pirates then smash into the plague priest unit

While a second unit of slayers kills off the jezzails

More clanrats come to the rescue of the plague monks 

While on the left flank both sides become bogged down in the swamps

Not even the warp lightning cannon can turn the tide, firing wildly in a random direction and then fleeing from a doomseeker

By then all fight has gone out of the rats with the clan unit running from a doomseeker

And the left flank only held by the general and his storm vermin

Only the crazed plague monks fight on thanks to their frenzy

Both generals engage in a duel to the death

Falling the skaven warlord to the runic axe of his foe

Overpowered by the pestilens monks all pirates die, leaving Drong on top of a mound of dead ratmen

With their general gone the stormvermin are easy meat

And while Drong at last falls the battle has become a massacre or the skaven, who flee from the devastated village of Gruyden
