Pride of the Core

The Mandator II was the biggest Republic ship during the Clone Wars. An upgunned version of the dreadnoughts that protected the Kuat sector, the Mandator had extended hyperspace capabilities, and was able to whithstand attacks from no less than 1.000 separatists destroyers (!). This vessel was first mentioned in the cross-section books, getting afterwards a fanmade model in the excellent empire at war game. The design is basically a proto-Executor, with flat shape, banks of thrusters below and a dorsal protuberance, it also has the classic rhomboid "imperial" bridge.

This is the only vessel of the collection that isn't at scale, since it would be over 80cm long and take up most of the table, due to her impressive 8km length

Attack of the mandator

 

Termius besieged! The vital trade nexus of the Terminus system, in the Outer Rim, has fallen in spearatist hands; with no time to lose, chancellor Palpatine unleashes his latest weapon: the Pride of the Core, a massive mandator dreadnought at the head of an invasion fleet

The confederacy blockades the planet, bolstered by the orbital defences

Separatists vulture fighters, led by none other than General Grievous, scout ahead of the fleet

The evil cyborg and his magnaguard attack the engines, slowing the Pride of the Core

LAAT gunships strike back against the droids

Meanwhile a long ranged torpedo salvo cripples the space station

The mandator then concentrates all her formidable firepower on the enemy vessels

Turbolaser fire crisscrosses between the fleets while waves of bombers make their attack runs

Unable to bear such punishment, the central providence blows up

The cowardly Grievous abandons ship, taking shelter in the other carrier

With the way ahead clear, the pride advances ponderously, eradicating the defences with her  heavy turbolaser batteries

Another volley destroys the munificent frigate

The last separatist ship weathers incessant bombing runs

But the mandator has parked in orbit, unleashing the full power of the Republic on the rebel planet

As the clones take control of Terminus, Grievous flees to fight another day

Escape from Polis Massa

 

Blockade! After their defeat at Mustafar, the separatist fleet is hiding amongst the asteroids of the Massa system. The noose tightens around the droids, that must flee in order to fight another day

Long ranged turbolasers open the battle, setting a munificent frigate on flames

Vulture droids and LAAT gunships fight it out while the destroyers blast away at one another

Sustained fire blows up the munificent

The two providence destroyers struggle to launch more fighters

And are pounced upon by clone troopers and bombers that disable their turbolaser batteries

Yularen orders two venators to concentrate their fire and destroy the nearest vessel

The other carrier is beset by waves of LAATs that destroy most of her systems

The crippled hulk is them mericlessly killed by a passing venator

Battle for Mustafar

 

 War in the Outer Rim! The nefarious general Grievous has seized control of the planet Mustafar, turning its factories to the separatist cause. Facing the threat of millions of new battledroids, the Galactic Senate sends admiral Yularen to retake the volcanic world in the name of the Republic

CIS navy: in the foregroud the Invincible, followed by the Indefatigable and the Beneficence in the background

Yularen's fleet, the venators Defiant, Avenger and Resolute

The separatists get the first turn, launching a screen of ordnance

Wich is answered in kind by the clone pilots

The republic vessels cross the T, badly damaging the Indefatigable with their turbolasers

The Defiant gets hit by proton torpedoes, venting some decks to the void

Meanwhile, Grievous and his vulture fighters wipe out the Y wings

The Defiant is attacked by hyena bombers, but manages to stay in the fight

All turbolasers zero into the Indefatigable, that blows up, damaging the surrounding vessels

The Invincible has problems of her won, as one wave of LAAT gunships and another of Y wings work together to cripple her

The separatists slingshot around Mustafar, opening up with their broadsides to little effect

The venators move ahead of the providence destroyers, reducing the Ivincible to a burning hulk

The ravaged destroyer tries to strike back, but she's too mauled to do any significant damage

A swarm of LAATs unleash hundreds of boarding parties, that take out all the Beneficence's weapons

The Invincible drifts aflame

And explodes, causing some damage on the venators

Deprived of her batteries, the Beneficence attempts to board the Defiant, but the clone troopers easily rout the droids and capture the vessel, ending the game for the separatists

Munificent frigate

 

The munificent class friagtes were the mainstay light CIS warship in both the movie and the series, a gun platform equipped with a fearsome prow heavy trubolaser

Like the providence, this vessel has three main thursters surrounded by smaller impulsors

Separatist fleet ready for a scrap
