Battle for Infernus & Hades

With the boys I've recently started a 40k campaign based in Armageddon. In our first game the adeptus custodes attacked Infernus hive, controlled by a renegade knight house of the adeptus mechanicus

With both sides deployed on opposing corners the custodes got first turn

Killing an enemy armiger with concentrated firepower

The knights answered taking over some objectives
And blowing the caladius up, who suffered from the fresh painted model syndrome
Then the reserves finally arrived
And the custodians made their first charges taking down a crusader knight

A desperate salvo failed to kill the newcome land raider in the knights turn
But a cerastus lancer freshly arrived from reserves killed a pair of aquilon terminators
Yet another armiger fell to the warden's axes

And the game ended with a slight victory for the custodes 21 to 15 points
The second game played just yesterday was against the imperial guard, a classic steel legion army full of armoured fist squads with leman russes in tow attacking the ruins of Hades Hive
Undetered by the mass of enemy combatants the custodians moved swiftly as the eagle and blew a basilisk while bringing the tank commander to half an inch of death

The guard answered in king, but a combination of strong saves and strats meant just one biker died
On turn 2 the massed custodian reserved teleported into the battlefield
Taking over yet more objectives
And wiping out all russes
Even the blade champion pitched in, chopping up a chimera with the rendax ka'tah

Turn 2 of the guard meant that their reserves also got to the battlefield, but again the golden plate of the custodians prevented them from suffering any telling losses

The battle ended thus in a far easier victory for the custodes, 30-5 this time round

Custodian guard sodality

The new custodes range refresh has provided us with great models, in my opinion the most beautiful custodians yet, so I couldn't resist bagging a box of spear armed custodian guard.
Dressed in regal capes and far more ornate than their predecessors I'll play these as wardens in 40k
Painting was quite easy actually: first I did the red cloaks and plumes and then the golden armour and details. The most time consuming aspect was as ever all the jewels they wear, something I really enjoy and have little chance to do while painting chaos, empire or cyberpunk minis

The models were great so I only converted one to turn him into a vexilifer armed with axe and bolter (castellan axe in-game)

Black templars impulsor/gladiator

Many moons ago I got this impulsor kit from a second hand supplier, after languishing in stasis for several year I've finally managed to put some paint on it, tuning it up with some imperial bits to give a more gothic and templaresque feel
The impulsor was designed by Belisarius Cawl as a sort of grav-rhino for his primaris space marines, transporting a small squad of six on the battlefield

From the open topped compartment in the back the marines can follow the flow of battle and even fire their guns at the foe
On top of the hull the twin linked stubber can be replaced by several alternative weapons, personally I went with a vox array to call orbital barrages on the foe
The kit also came with enough pieces to turn the vehicle into a Gladitori which is, you guessed it: a grav predator, armed here in the lancer configuration of twin lascannon
Part of the Armageddon crusade, the vehicle sports a shield with he crusade's badge, generously lifted from a grey knight squad
On both sides the turret also has smoke grenade launchers, while an icarus rocket pod fired from the hull at enemy aircraft

Emperor's champion

Converted a primaris company champion into an emperor's champion for my Black Templar crusade. The extra bits come from grey knights and assault termimators
