The profanation of Oyxl

 

After their defeat at the hands of the Empire last week the warriors of chaos took the offence in the south by attacking the temple city of Oyxl, defended by the brutal ogres of a mercenary expedition

Pitching two melee oriented armies against each other the game would be quite bloody, with the followers of the dark gods centered on profaning an altar in the ogres' deployment zone

With plenty of jungle and swamp in their side of the battlefield the ogres formed a solid defensive line to receive the enemy charge

Spearheaded by a fearsome champion of Khorne mounted on a juggernaut

The chaos horde rushed forwards

trampling some carnivorous plants on the way

The fauna took its toll also on the ogres, devouring a leadbelcher and making his comrades leg it!

While the second unit blew itself to bits and also scarpered from the field

The cowardly brutes were then slaughtered by the vicious chaos furies

With the ogres still standing their ground, the hounds of chaos smashed into the foe

Being repulsed by a unit of yethees and some valiant gnoblars

The mountain beasts then charged into the foe, routing a chariot and surrounding a chaos spawn 

While the giant loomed protectively over the sacred altar

Not even the warriors of Khorne were safe, caught in open order by the butcher's unit and put to flight by a single combat resolution point

With the battle going against him the exalted champion massacred the poor gnoblars

While the yhetees made a meal of the isolated spawn

But at last it was the furies who sealed the deal, taking over the temple and corrupting it under the very nose of the giant

The ogres retreated then to the river ford up north and took a boat to the fuming serpent, while the dwarves attacked the empire in the north setting the board four the next battle of the campaign
